Have you ever wanted to download a video from facebook and did not know how to get around their flash player? Well there are a couple of complicated methods or you can just go visit tubekeeper.com and paste in the url and it will grab it and let you download it right to your hard drive.

I had a client who uploaded a video and was not able to get me the file in time for a deadline. So I turned to tubekeeper. This came in very handy. It also has a feature to let you search videos. And they just added Tudou.com the wildly popular Chinese video repository.

Tube Keeper says it will work with all of these sites.

You can watch the video posted by FacebookOp

Personally I like the idea. Facebook is a convenient way to stay in touch with people, however not at the total loss of privacy. Facebook most likely is even selling private data to the evil mid east regimes that are killing their own people. The almighty dollar rules again. Everyone has their price, but when you have people lives at stake then its going too far. I have no idea how Mark Zuckerberg can sleep at night knowing what he is doing by keeping peoples information for all time and then selling it to the highest bidder.

Even if you delete the information FB still has it and will keep and sell it. Plus they do facial recognition on your photos of you and your family. So lets say you have never been in trouble with the law, we then the law can buy your information from facebook and now they know everything about you. Or maybe its not the law just some huge corporation that wants to sue you or harass you and keep you under their thumb for some reason that benefits them.

Facebook pure evil.

Facebook has announced that developers of Facebook application can now gather the personal contact information from their users. The Security firm Sophos describes it as, a move that could herald a new level of danger for Facebook users, and advises users to remove their home address and phone numbers from the network immediately.

I know I am going to remove any information I have now. Here is a funny quip on data security. It really is ironic how Asange is a villain for giving away private information and then Zuckerberg is Man of the year for selling our private information. I am surprised how many people still are on Facebook.

Also Beware of bogus Facebook apps
You may have seen Facebook posts about subliminal Disney messages, showing celebrities caught in the act, or let you see who deleted you or viewed your Facebook profile. All of thees were attempts to trick you into surrendering your personal information.

Anna Pulley interviewed Graham Cluley of security firm Sophos. Cluley explained that the Facebook scammers can make money by convincing you to complete an online survey, or they may try to get your telephone number so they can sign you up for an unwanted subscription you won’t discover until you receive your next bill.

Even if you do not directly provide a scam Facebook app with any information, the app may still have access to your profile and get your private information. It can then propagate to your friends accounts.

I am thinking of starting an anti-social network. A place where you have to add your friends the old fashion way. You have to track them down and add them manually. No more scraping everyone’s email address books and trying to match them up and no more friend suggestions so you feel pressured to add people who you really don’t really know.

Facebook is going downhill. It started when he opened the service to high school students and, now, to any sleazy person worldwide. This was the downfall of MySpace.

Esquire put Mark 3rd on the hall of shame list? Due to his appearance at a black tie event where he wore jeans and a t-shirt. According to Esquire:

No matter how much money you have or how many people’s secrets you hold in your digital palm, you cannot show up to a black-tie event in a t-shirt and jeans and expect to be taken seriously.

I hope people quit taking him seriously he is more of a villain than Asange and he needs to stop being rewarded for it. If you want to read a great article on Zuckergerg then check out dikipedia.

Is Google creeping you out? Are all the ads you see the same type? This is their new retargeting campaign. It will work for a small percentage of people who need that extra reminder. For everybody else it will just seem really creepy. If this does creep you out, you can go to this page to see what Google thinks your interests are based on a cookie, and you can also download a browser plugin if you’re spooked about Google’s latest ‘interest-based advertising’ initiative.

What is ad “retargeting.” If you visit a page on an advertiser’s own site or YouTube channel, Google can now show a related follow-up ad to just that person when they visit another site which shows Google ads. Since there are millions of these sites in the Google Content Network, chances are Google will see you again.

The term “remarketing” has multiple definitions, but Google uses it describe a way for AdWords advertisers to run campaigns throughout the whole Google Content Network. The idea is that while visitors of a certain advertiser’s website may have shown interest for a product or service, leads don’t always convert to sales and Google aims to make it easier for AdWords clients to try and win over the potential customer at a later stage. Retargeting can be applied to either text or display ads, and during the trial period was used for everything from boosting brand awareness to driving clicks and sales.

If you’re spooked about Google’s latest follow you around until you buy something strategy then let them know it. Personally I feel like not using Google. Like they need more money?!?

I have no idea how so few people are not concerned that Facebook has allowed Zynga’s Farmville to steal and sell users personal data?!? Probably because its all in the background and nobody has seen any direct harm from it. Well now your personal data has been sold. It should not come as a huge shock I mean you share it for the whole world to see anyway. But there are some of us who use facebook to actually stay in touch with distant friend and not just use it for self promotion.

Now to make things worse among the virus spam you get from facebook we now have to content with a Trojan Horse called boonana. This is a cross platform virus that effects both windows and macintosh users. This Trojan horse malware that affects Mac OS X has been uncovered by Macintosh Security site SecureMac. The Trojan is called “trojan.osx.boonana.a” and is being disguised as a video and distributed through social-networking sites including Facebook.

This trojan is currently appearing as a link in messages with the subject “Is this you in this video?” When you click the infected link, the trojan initially runs as a Java applet, which downloads other files to your computer, including an installer, which launches automatically. When run, the installer modifies the system files to bypass the need for passwords, allowing outside access to all files on the system.

Its been a long time since something like this has come to the Macintosh community. And we see it come to us from the likes of facebook. The longevity of facebook is a puzzle. They think they are all high and mighty. Well I am sure Myspace felt that way also. Facebook is very small considering that Zynga is just as large and or larger and has all the money. Facebook is just the network. If they are not careful they will be replaced by the next networking site. Hopefully one that does not allow so many third parties to gum up the works.

The writing is on the wall for facebook.

I have been using InDesign again now after years of not using it. Now I was trying to figure out how to make the annoying bounding boxes disappear that display up around every object. Having them on makes the program feel to much like Quark. Thats too much ugly for me to work with all the time.

Well first of off Adobe calls them frame edges. And you have to go under the view menu and then select the hide frame edges. So there now you can enjoy a cleaner screen for working on your indesign files.

All you could see was just an empty rokstories box with arrows? Have you also recently changed your tinyMCE settings? The problem is related. A small change in syntax will break your article being used by rokstories. It will show up fine in the editor, but will not display correctly on your site.

This fact is actually included in the rokstories tutorial for many months already. under point 4.2. but who read that and or remembered it?!? So anyway hopefully if you have this problem and find this article then you know how to fix your problem. If you are lucky then you found this solution faster than I did. I was banging my head against the wall for almost two hours before I found the solution.
